Ecos Interior Anti-Slip Floor paint is a high-performance, non-toxic, zero VOC paint for interior wooden or concrete floors that is slightly textured to provide a non-skid surface. Its unique and sustainable architectural coating is made with no solvents, biocides or fungicides, hazardous chemicals or toxic pigments. It produces a highly scrubbable medium-sheen surface that holds up under heavy foot traffic for many years. Made in USA.

NOTE: Not suitable for teak, oily woods or damp basement floors.

NOTE2: Available without the texture. See ECOS Interior Floor Paint.

Like all premium quality paints, Ecos Interior Anti-Slip paint is thick and rich, and it hides very well. It applies with either brush or roller, leaving a beautiful smooth, even finish. We recommend unpainted or unfinished surfaces should be primed first to ensure an even base color and consistency before applying the paint. Three coats are recommended for most applications. 24 hours between coats. One coat will cover 400 SF.

Ecos also makes a variety of specialty paints for ceilings, trim and furniture, radiators, EMR (electromagnetic radiation) shielding and air purification.

TIP: Box your paint.

Boxing paint means combining all the paint of one color into a larger container BEFORE painting. This blends any inconsistencies in color, especially on large surfaces where the slightest variation from one can to another could be visible. If you think you may not have enough paint to finish one wall, don't begin until you receive more paint. Box the new gallon with the original and then finish the job.

ECOS has industry-leading test performance and accreditations:

  • The first North American paint manufacturer to complete the Health Product Declaration (HPD) — an open-standard format for accurate, reliable and transparent reporting of product contents for LEED v4 that requires third-party certification;
  • The only paint manufacturer with Declare Labels showing LBC Red List Free (a transparent ingredients labeling tool developed by the Living Building Challenge for manufacturers to fully disclose all intentionally added ingredients; Red List is a collection of worst-in-class building materials);
  • The only professional-grade paint certified to ASTM D-4236 (non-toxic);
  • The only paint company with membership of the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA);
  • The only paint company approved by the national non-profit Healthy Child Healthy World.

See righthand margin for downloadable PDFs including SDS (Safety Data Sheet), ASTM D6886 (VOC test results) and application instructions.

Sample sizes (2 oz) of ECOS colors are available for $6.95 including shipping. Swatch Decks are also available.

Why We Like It

A useful non-skid product especially for older interior wooden floors that are too expensive or difficult to re-finish. ECOS floor paint is highly durable and held up exceptionally well to our 9 month test on plywood in front our front door with minimal scratching and wear. It cleans up easily and like all ECOS paints covers very well and has almost no odor. This is made especially for wooden floors but ECOS says it will work on concrete floors too. Don't confuse with their Porch Paint which is similar but only for exterior concrete floors.

Surface or Product Preparation
Wooden floors - Ensure the surface is sound, dry and free of dust, wax, and grease. For best results clean with a Scotchbrite pad and detergent. This product is suitable for direct application onto bare wood. Fillers - seal with ECOS Filler Sealer. Knots - treat with two liberal coats of ECOS White Knotting. Bare concrete floors must be dry, non-dusty and free of laitance. Previously painted floors must be clean, dry and free of loose or flaking paint, and free of polish/wax residues. If in doubt clean with a scotchbrite pad and sugar soap, and rinse well. ECOS Floor Paint will key to most finishes, but a test area is always advisable. Remove dust with a Tak rag. WARNING: Older buildings may contain lead-based paint, which requires professional remediation if it is disturbed. If in doubt, consult with a professional from a Lead-Safe Certified Firm.
