Long-lasting, breathable, non-toxic, zero VOC, mineral interior/exterior paint
Color Samples are Available, see below for directions how to order
Silacote Concrete and Masonry Paint is designed for use on inorganic cementitious substrates and can be used in both interior and exterior applications. It has many beneficial characteristics such as water vapor permeability, incombustibility, prevents mold, mildew, or algae, radiant heat barrier, colorfast, zero VOC, and environmentally safe.
This product penetrates into the inorganic substrate of masonry and then petrifies, forming a micro-crystalline structure that resists moisture and helps to reflect heat. Extremely long-lasting and durable, Silacote Concrete and Masonry Paint is not a topical finish, therefore it will not crack and peel off the structure. It has been used in hotels and churches for more than a hundred years and holds up extremely well.
Silacote is for walls or ceilings and not for floors. It must be applied over a masonry substrate such as concrete, stucco, brick, fiber-cement, or MGO board. The surface must be clean, dry, porous, and free of paint, sealers, oil, or wax. It must be used with a Silacote Primer and mixed 1/3 primer 2/3 paint. It comes in a smooth or textured finish and can be tinted to over 100 pastel colors. It can be applied with a brush, roller, or sprayed. Only one prime coat and one top coat are needed.
TIP: Ordering Color Samples
You can order tinted samples of this product, here is how.
You can call an Eco Advisor at 1-800-405-0222 and place your order over the phone. Otherwise, you can follow these steps to order a sample on the website:
- Select the style you want, then click on the "order a sample" link or button, this will place an untinted/white sample in your shopping cart.
- Keep track of what color you want your sample to be. You will need to give us this information when you check out.
- As you run through the check-out procedure, on the shipping option page there will be a field for customer comments. In this field type up specifics as to how you want your samples tinted. i.e. "please tint Silacote Paint Sample to Silacoat Color 0024" - be sure you include the notation of each sample you want to be tinted, if you do not include this information you will receive an untinted/white sample.
- Place your order. If anything is unclear, an Eco Advisor will give you a call to straighten up any mystery.
TIP: Box your paint.
Boxing paint means combining all the paint of one color into a larger container BEFORE painting. This blends any inconsistencies in color, especially on large surfaces where the slightest variation from one can to another could be visible. If you think you may not have enough paint to finish one wall, don't begin until you receive more paint. Box the new gallon with the original and then finish the job.
Why We Like It
If you're building with plaster, stucco, brick or concrete, use this and you'll never have to paint again. It's expensive but not overpriced because it won't wear off or need re-application down the road. And, you will never have mold problems.
