AFM Safecoat EXT is an ultra-low VOC, crystal clear topical sealer that creates a durable, long-lasting finish on most wood and concrete surfaces. It's non-toxic and safe for everyone, even those with chemical sensitivities. Unlike oil-based polyurethanes which off-gas for weeks, this product has no odor once dried.
AFM Safecoat EXT is a high solids, high build sealer comparable to conventional urethanes in performance, with exceptional durability and abrasion resistance—but without the harmful ingredients. It is water-resistant but not waterproof. It cannot be submerged underwater.
Use two coats on unfinished or stained wood, concrete or previously painted surfaces. If a satin finish is desired, one base coat of gloss is required. This product dries fast and completely clear, and it will not yellow. Please read preparation instructions carefully.
NOTE: This product is not to be used over oil-based polyurethanes or oil-based products. It cannot be used over Chalk Painted surfaces. Do not use over pressure treated wood. Not for use on stamped concrete.
Why We Like It
If you're looking for a tough topical finish for outdoors, this is the best in the non-toxic variety we have seen. This is similar to most spar varnishes, but it's much safer. It can withstand abuse from Mother Nature by repelling moisture, freeze/thaw and the sun, as well as human nature, by repelling oil, grease, light chemicals and abrasion. Be sure to follow directions carefully as preparation is very important.
