ECOS Air Purifying Paint (formerly Atmosphere Purifying paint) is a revolutionary technology that combines the inherent safety of ECOS Paints with a unique filtration system that removes contaminants such as formaldehyde, acetone, glycol and benzene from the air. The low sheen non-toxic finish absorbs and neutralizes chemicals, while improving indoor air quality.

ECOS Air Purifying Paint contains zeolite, a natural mineral, that acts like a molecular sieve to absorb a targeted range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the atmosphere. The sieve (a non-toxic crystalline tube) is sized to allow small molecules such as nitrogen or oxygen to pass unimpeded, while large molecules (organic compounds) become trapped.

This process filters the surrounding air near the paint. Over time, the paint may become saturated, which can be remedied by applying a fresh coat of ECOS Air Purifying paint. Test results show that ECOS Air Purifying paint reduced the following chemicals:
Formaldehyde 52%, Acetone 49%, Ethyl Acetate 96%, P-Xylene 85%, Propanol 58%, 2-Butanone 95%, Benzene 42%, Propylene Glycol 77%, M-Xylene 81%, O-Xylene 84%, Diethylene Glycol 100%, Dipropylene Glycol 100%.

Note: this will not absorb odors such as smoke, pet urine or essential oils

Like all premium quality paints, Ecos Interior Wall paint is thick, rich and hides very well. It applies with either brush, roller or spray, leaving a beautiful smooth, even finish. One thing that makes Ecos unique is its coverage; one gallon covers 480-560 SF per coat which is 1.5 times that of the average paint. It can be applied over properly prepared interior walls of plaster, wallboard and masonry. It's ideal for residential and commercial settings where superior quality and durability are desired.

Aside from coverage, Ecos colors are unequalled in brilliance because they use rich pigments from Europe. Ecos also makes a variety of specialty paints for flooring, ceilings, trim and furniture, radiators and EMR (electromagnetic radiation) shielding

ECOS has industry-leading test performance and accreditations:

  • The first North American paint manufacturer to complete the Health Product Declaration (HPD) — an open-standard format for accurate, reliable and transparent reporting of product contents for LEED v4 that requires third-party certification;
  • The only paint manufacturer with Declare Labels showing LBC Red List Free (a transparent ingredients labeling tool developed by the Living Building Challenge for manufacturers to fully disclose all intentionally added ingredients; Red List is a collection of worst-in-class building materials);
  • The only professional-grade paint certified to ASTM D-4236 (non-toxic);
  • The only paint company with membership of the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA);
  • The only paint company approved by the national non-profit Healthy Child Healthy World.

See righthand margin for downloadable PDFs including MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), HPD, Declare label, CDPH (Calif Dept. Pub. Health), ASTM D6886 (VOC test results) and application instructions.

Swatch Decks are also available.
